Celerity wagon

Celerity wagon also known as mud wagons, passenger wagons and mail wagons most of which were made by Abbot, Downing and Company

Box styled with open sides, the celerity wagons were lighter in weight and construction then the Concord stagecoaches but generally ran on thoroughbraces

Most of the wagons had canvas roofs and canvas curtains which could be rolled down during bad weather.   Only the heavier wagons could carry luggage on top.   The wagons generally cost less then half what a true Concord coach would run

Routinely used in the west for short hauls, branch routes or mountainous roads, the wagons could carry from four to twelve people depending on how they were made
